Benjamin Walker

Local Realtor and author Benjamin Walker recently published his fourth book, “Children at the Gate.”

A Jacksonville resident, Walker works at Country Club Real Estate in Ponte Vedra Beach.

His latest book follows the life of Travis Carter, a fictional Vietnam veteran, and his friends, who lived in San Francisco during the early 1970s.

Walker spent the better part of the 1970s in and around San Francisco as a student playwright, actor and bartender.

He said a number of people he met there are similar to characters in his book.

It was “a very volatile time in American history with numerous militant groups bombing buildings, shooting policemen and even murdering public officials,” he said. “I thought it was good material for a novel.”

Walker is also the author of “Sentimental Music,” “Winds of the South” and “Islands of the South.” He graduated from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., and received his master’s degree in creative writing from San Francisco State University.

His latest book is available on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com and Apple.com.
