How did you become involved?

I have always felt the responsibility of the legal profession is in part to serve the public good in some way. I began with various organizations in the city, such as the Jacksonville Housing Authority, task forces and committees in the land use and real estate field, public education and economic development programs, all of which are of interest to me.

How can someone else get involved?

Focus on areas of interest to you personally and professionally.  Once you target a topic, talk to people who are involved and get their insights.

What have you learned through the experience?

It has given me an enormous appreciation for the importance of civic engagement in the health of a community. Business growth is important but side by side with all civic institutions.

What was the last book you read or are reading?

“The God Particle,” which is the story of the Higgs boson.
