The city approved a $1.6 million interior demolition and renovation for Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. at its 720 Scotia Road terminal.

D.F. Chase Inc. is the contractor for the two-story, 7,630-square-foot office project.

It’s part of an expansion.

Old Dominion applied for a zoning administrative deviation in July to increase parking spaces from 23 to 67 and to change landscape requirements at 720 Scotia Road and 5311 Doolittle Road.

Old Dominion is based in Thomasville, North Carolina. Prosser Inc. is the project agent. The company had no immediate comment.

The deviation application said Old Dominion’s existing regional package and distribution facility comprises about 32,095 square feet and operates 24/7.

Old Dominion requested the deviation so it could add 13,320 square feet to the warehouse and make related improvements.

It said during typical work shifts, there will be about 25 full-time employees along with drivers and operators. The facility will operate a truck terminal cross-dock facility and accommodate drivers and operators as well as distribution and office employees.

The deviation request was approved and awaits a final order from the General Counsel’s Office.
