Advance Auto Parts Inc. appears to be opening a store the size of its “market hub” in Beauclerc Village at San Jose Boulevard and Old St. Augustine Road.

Market hubs are several times larger than standard stores.

Landlord Saglo Companies LLC, based in Miami Lakes, features Advance Auto Parts on a Beauclerc Village brochure in 31,582 square feet of space that was vacated by Big Lots.

Based on Raleigh, North Carolina, Advanced Auto Parts operated 35 market hubs and intended to open 60 by 2027, SupplyChainDive.com reported, quoting auto parts company President and CEO Shane O’Kelly.

The city issued a permit July 15 for McCoy Construction Services Inc. of Fort White, near Gainesville, to renovate 34,420 square feet of space at 9718 Old St. Augustine Road at a project cost of almost $1.78 million. It’s not uncommon for the build-out and landlord areas to differ because of the way space is measured.

Plans show that the majority of the space is used for parts storage with about 2,400 square feet for a sales area.

The location is north of Interstate 295 in the greater Mandarin area. Saglo owns the property through Beauclerc SDC LLC.

Stores.advanceautoparts.com shows 37 stores in Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties.

The company said in its annual report to the Securities and Exchange Commission that as of Jan. 3, its  4,066 Advance Auto Parts stores, including 255 hubs and 33 market hubs, averaged about 8,100 square feet.

They operated across 44 U.S. states and two U.S. territories.

Industry site SupplyChainDive.com said the retailer’s network includes distribution centers that are replenishment nodes that feed into Advance Auto Parts market hubs, which are closer to stores to hold parts locally that help drive same-day availability for stores.

It said the auto parts retailer plans to open up to 15 market hubs this year. Research shows that market hubs are about 35,000 square feet in size.

“The market hubs are designed to increase our speed of service by placing approximately 75,000 - 85,000 SKUs closer to the customer, which increases same-day parts availability,” the spokesperson said. “A market hub typically supports 60 to 90 stores within its radius.” SKU is a stock-keeping unit that is parlance in inventory control.

The company also served 797 independently owned Carquest branded stores across those locations in addition to Mexico and various Caribbean islands.

CNN.com reported in November 2024 that Advance Auto Parts would close more than 700 locations to shore up the company’s finances.

Industry reports said the retailer, with about 5,000 stores, intended to close the locations by the end of 2025 while opening in some markets, including Florida.
