Wellhouse Co., an independent, privately owned insurance brokerage and risk management firm, has begun operations in Jacksonville, the company said Thursday in a news release.

The firm was founded by Rick Stein, the former co-CEO of Fletcher | Stein. That company was sold to Acrisure.

Welhouse Co. said it focuses on clients with complex corporate risks, smaller businesses with intricate business owner exposures and private clients.

Stein has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. He is former president of Palmer & Cay’s Florida operations and served as co-CEO and managing partner at both Lanier Upshaw and Fletcher | Stein.

Wellhouse Co. said its team includes Kerrie Kenna, Shelby Weikel and Stein’s son, Richard.

Kenna handles commercial lines and carrier relationships. Weikel services and develops the company’s personal lines.

Richard Stein focuses on company growth and operations.
