Culver’s of Middleburg filed construction plans with the St. Johns River Water Management District for its first Northeast Florida restaurant.

The almost 4,600-square-foot location is planned on 1.2 acres off Blanding Boulevard in Branan Field Walk.

Wisconsin-based Culver’s promotes its signature ButterBurgers and frozen custard.

Wisconsin resident Don Lichte, his wife, Lori, and their daughter, Sophie, intend to buy the Middleburg site, he said in May.

Lichte said he expects to buy the 1.25-acre parcel by the end of November and start construction in December. The Lichtes will own the land, building and equipment.

He expects an investment of more than $3 million.

Sophie Lichte will move to the area and serve as the owner-operator.

Panera building, remodeling

The St. Louis-based company is building a 4,425-square-foot restaurant at 13760 Old St. Augustine Road in the Shoppes at Bartram Park.

Site plans were filed for the project on 1.21 acres. The restaurant leases space within the center now.

It also is remodeling its inline store at Roosevelt Square. The city is reviewing a permit application for a $160,000 renovation of its 4,666-square-foot restaurant at 4495 Roosevelt Blvd.
