Global food-service company Sysco Corp. is exploring plans to expand its Northwest Jacksonville distribution center by 116,537 square feet.

It is considering plans to expand the existing 195,724-square-foot warehouse center to almost 312,300 square feet, an increase of almost 60 percent.

The city issued a mobility fee calculation certificate Jan. 23 for the project, planned on 16.33 acres at 3100 Hilton St.

It calculated a fee of $41,165 to mitigate the project’s traffic impact.

Jacksonville-based Stellar, a construction management, design-build and general contracting company, is the agent.

Sysco did not return a call for comment.

Sysco International Food Group Inc. intends to add dry warehouse and office space, a freezer-cooler, dock and concrete truck apron, plans show.

The International Food Group is the export specialty division of Houston-based Sysco.

The ifoodgroup.com site says IFG provides product selection and services to more than 700 customers in more than 80 countries. It distributes food and nonfood items.

It says it operates with more than 250 associates from two dedicated export facilities — a 125,000-square-foot facility in Plant City and its 200,000-square-foot Jacksonville facility.

Sysco says it is the global leader in selling, marketing and distributing food products to restaurants, health care and educational facilities, lodging establishments and other customers who prepare meals away from home.

Sysco employs about 67,000 associates, operates about 330 distribution facilities in North America and Europe and serves more than 500,000 customer locations.

For the fiscal year that ended June 30, the company generated sales of more than $58 billion.
