Looking for a cool place to eat Downtown?
So were visiting judges from Malaysia who were given recommendations during their trip last week.
The printed guide for the judges, prepared by the State Department and GlobalJax, recommended Downtown destinations for lunch each day while the delegation was visiting the Duval County Courthouse and State Attorney's Office.
Burrito Gallery at Adams and Main streets was described on the itinerary as “a Bohemian restaurant featuring a rotating selection of art plus Tex-Mex fare and local beer.”
The second day's recommendation, Zodiac Bar & Grill on Adams Street near the courthouse, was described as a “stylish hangout featuring a menu of Mediterranean and American fare.”
On their final day in Jacksonville, the Malaysian judges and court officers were guided to Olio at 301 E. Bay St.
The restaurant, across from the old courthouse being demolished, was described as “a breakfast and lunch spot offering innovative spins on American comfort food in a chic, modern space.”
Two judges and two court special officers from Malaysia visited Jacksonville for a tour of the judicial system and to learn how the judiciary interfaces with law enforcement.
Sponsored by the Department of State and locally by GlobalJax, the objective of the three-day itinerary was to demonstrate the workings of America's independent judiciary while examining the underlying principles of the U.S. judicial and legal systems and their basis in the Constitution.
In addition to their official business, the delegation had some exposure to American culture, such as overnight accommodations at the Hyatt Place Jacksonville Town Center, in the local epicenter of capitalism, consumerism - and traffic.
