JEA is reviewing a utility service availability request for Sleiman Enterprises to add “anticipated fill-in retail shops” at Atlantic North, the shopping center Sleiman is developing at northwest Kernan and Atlantic boulevards.

The shopping center, at 11901 Atlantic Blvd., is anchored by Belk, LA Fitness and Academy Sports + Outdoors. Another anchor, Earth Fare, closed.

There is land between LA Fitness and Academy, and also between Belk and the empty Earth Fare.

A site plan shows two “future build areas” on those two pieces of land.

Sleiman Enterprises Chief Operating Officer Michael McNaughton declined to comment about Atlantic North.

Atlantic North’s outparcels include 7-Eleven, MedExpress Urgent Care, Panda Express and two multitenant buildings that include a nail salon, Great Clips, Fancy Sushi and Verizon Wireless. Another Broken Egg Cafe is planned in one of the buildings, next to Fancy Sushi and Verizon.

Scrubbles Express Wash is planned on a corner outparcel. Three more outparcels are available, with one identified in public records for a Starbucks coffee shop.

A Cinemark theater and RaceTrac gas station and convenience store are under development.
