Six nominees sent to governor to fill Judge McCallum’s seat

Judicial Nominating Commission interviewed 16 applicants.

The 4th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission recommended six nominees to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Linda McCallum.

The commission sent the recommendations to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who will select the new judge.

The commission interviewed 16 applicants March 30.

These are are the nominees, in alphabetical order:

Gilbert Lee Feltel Jr., Jacksonville Port Authority chief legal officer.

Robin E. Lanigan, general magistrate and hearing officer.

Rhonda Denise Peoples-Waters, attorney, Rhonda Peoples-Waters PA.

Allen Jay Plotkin, attorney, The Wilner Firm.

• Duval County Judge R. Anthony Salem.

Julie K. Taylor, general counsel for the 4th Judicial Circuit.

DeSantis has 60 days to appoint one of the nominees or ask the commission to submit additional candidates.
