Walmart Health approved at Kernan and Atlantic

The clinic is one of seven the retailer said it would open in Jacksonville.

The city issued a permit June 10 for the $1.02 million construction of a Walmart Health clinic at the South Jacksonville Supercenter at 11900 Atlantic Blvd.

Hutton Construction Inc. of Chattanooga, Tennessee, is the contractor for the project at southwest Kernan and Atlantic boulevards.

Walmart will renovate 6,510 square feet of space within its Supercenter for the primary care clinic.

Walmart Health offers primary care, urgent care, dental and lab services, imaging, counseling, and optical and hearing services. The Bentonville, Arkansas-based retailer said it wants to build seven clinics in Northeast Florida.

The city issued a permit for construction March 19 of a Walmart Health clinic at the retailer’s Southwest Jacksonville Supercenter at 7075 Collins Road. in Collins Plaza.

Four more sites have been identified at Supercenters at 12100 Lem Turner Road, 6830 Normandy Blvd., 4250 Philips Highway and in Middleburg.
