City Council confirmed Jacksonville Bar Association Executive Director Craig Shoup as a member of the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville board of directors Feb. 22.

Shoup joined the JBA as chief of staff in December 2017 and was appointed executive director by the board of governors in February 2019.

He previously was special assistant to the Duval County Clerk of Courts and staff assistant in the 4th Judicial Circuit Office of the Public Defender.

The Cultural Council is administering a public art display in front of the Duval County Courthouse that will depict justice, equity, equality and freedom.

Currently being fabricated by Venice, California-based artist Cliff Garten, the $500,000 stainless steel sculpture, entitled “These Truths,” is scheduled to be installed in 2023.
