The city is reviewing a permit application for Subaru of Jacksonville to build a new car dealership in East Arlington.
Stellar Group Inc. is the contractor for the estimated $13.8 million project on 6.13 acres at 1717 St. Johns Bluff Road S.
The two-story, 39,338-square-foot project is a sales and service facility. It is next to Tractor Supply Co.
The city issued a permit Jan. 27, 2023, for Stellar to clear the site and start horizontal development at a cost of $2.86 million.
That boosts the dealership investment to at least $16.6 million.
Prosser Inc. of Jacksonville is the engineer and landscape architect.
The project is near Subaru’s dealership at 10800 Atlantic Blvd.
Property owner PJP L.L.C., part of the ownership of Subaru of Jacksonville, bought the 6.13 acres Sept. 9, 2020.
Phil Porter, president of Subaru of Jacksonville, is the managing member of PJP.
He said April 5, 2022, the development will be part of the new car dealership along Atlantic Boulevard.
The sites touch and there will be access from Atlantic Boulevard and from St. Johns Bluff Road.
The dealerships will wrap around the Discovery Plaza shopping center at southeast Atlantic Boulevard and St. Johns Bluff Road.
Porter said the existing dealership is 35,000 square feet.
The two dealerships will occupy 10 acres and provide for 40 service lifts, he said.
Porter said in April 2022 that construction could take 12-15 months.
Jacksonville-based Prosser Inc. is the project civil engineer.
Porter opened Subaru of Jacksonville in 2000.
It is a family-owned and -operated new and used vehicle dealership.
