New U.S. citizens take the oath at naturalization ceremony

Thirty-five people from 24 countries became American citizens at the Oct. 6 proceeding.

Thirty-five people from 24 countries became American citizens at a naturalization ceremony Oct. 6 at Englewood High School. U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, 

Chief Judge Timothy Corrigan presided over the proceeding. Naturalization ceremonies conducted outside the Bryan Simpson U.S. Courthouse are part of the federal court’s community outreach civics education program. 

Nearly 800 students in the school’s auditorium witnessed the ceremony, which was streamed live into all the school’s classrooms so that the entire 1,784-member student body could witness the event.
