Zaxby’s opening in the Fountains at St. Johns on April 15

The chicken-themed restaurant, known for its sauces, has seven locations in Northeast Florida.

Zaxby’s announced April 9 it is opening a restaurant and double drive-thru in Saint Johns on April 15.

The 3,400-square-foot restaurant, which seats 56, is at 85 Tylers Way in the Fountains at St. Johns along County Road 210 east of Interstate 95. 

Contentment Fountains LLC is the owner and operator. 

Zaxby’s opened a location at 5350 Florida Road 16 in Murabella near World Golf Village in February.

The restaurant is known as a chicken restaurant specializing in made-to-order chicken fingers, chicken sandwiches, fried chicken salads and fried pickles. It also has a dozen dipping sauces. For a limited time it is offering Southern Fried Shrimp. 

It is expected to hire 45 employees, the company said in a news release. 

Zaxby’s, founded in 1990, is based in Athens, Georgia. It has more than 950 locations in 17 states.

There are 114 Zaxby’s in Florida and seven in Northeast Florida.

Kaneco Construction of Atlantic Beach is the contractor.

Cross Regions Group is developing the Fountains at St. Johns.
