Two moving companies, including one headquartered in Jacksonville, are now working together.

Jacksonville-based The Suddath Companies and Evansville, Indiana-based Atlas Van Lines announced Jan. 22 that Suddath Moving & Storage is becoming an Atlas Agent.

An Atlas Agent is an independent mover that can act on Atlas’ behalf in servicing the interstate movement of household goods, a spokesperson for the companies said.

Atlas Agents are local moving companies that are affiliated with the company.

According to a news release announcing the deal, Suddath was an Atlas Agent and stockholder partner from 1950 to 1981.

“Suddath’s return to the Atlas Agent family was a logical decision for both organizations given their symmetry and shared goals,” the release said.

Through the partnership, Suddath will build on its customer base while being supported by one of the world’s most trusted moving companies, the release said.

“Household goods continues to be a critical part of Suddath’s core business, and partnering with Atlas will help us accelerate our growth strategy, especially in the corporate, B2C, and military relocation segments,” said Mike Brannigan, president and CEO of The Suddath Companies, in the release.

Atlas Van Lines is a subsidiary of Atlas World Group. It says there are more than 430 independent Atlas moving companies across the U.S. and Canada, plus 1,500 global partners in 17 countries.

“Suddath coming home to Atlas brings two highly regarded brands back together in the moving industry and further positions Atlas as an industry-leading van line,” said Jack Griffin, chairman and CEO of Atlas World Group.

“Atlas offers Suddath flexibility and stability, while Suddath brings vast capabilities that directly align with Atlas’ daily operations and long-term vision.”

Founded in 1919, Suddath says it moves more than 72,000 households every year, including more than 38,000 military families, and provides employee relocation and commercial services.
