A second Dutch Bros Coffee is cleared for construction in Jacksonville.

The city issued a permit March 5 for Tatco Construction LLC of Edmond, Oklahoma, to build a 950-square-foot Dutch Bros to-go shop at 7720 Argyle Forest Blvd. in Southwest Jacksonville at a project cost of $550,000.

It will offer a drive-thru service window and two drive aisles; a walk-up service window; parking; and a trash enclosure. There will be no indoor or outdoor seating.

Pavilion Development Co. of Charlotte, North Carolina, is the developer. Galloway & Co. Inc. of Duluth, Georgia, is the architect. BGE Inc. of Jacksonville is the civil engineer.

It is the second Jacksonville Dutch Bros unit approved this year.

The city issued a permit Jan. 22 for Ganaway Contracting of Roswell, Georgia, to build a 950-square-foot Dutch Bros to-go shop at 5733 Roosevelt Blvd. at a project cost of $450,000.

Pavilion Development is listed as the owner. Coralic Architecture of St. Louis is the architect. Bowman Consulting Group Ltd. of Melbourne is the civil engineer.

That site is in the Venetia area of West Jacksonville on land that previously was a Larry’s Giant Subs. Larry’s moved to a new location at 5857 Roosevelt Blvd. that was built in 2022.

Six identified sites for Dutch Bros Coffee have emerged in Northeast Florida as the Oregon-based chain of drive-thru shops expands through Texas into the Southeast.

In addition to the Venetia and Argyle properties, the chain is exploring sites at Elevation Pointe, Palencia and the Shops of Race Track Road in St. Johns County; and in Baymeadows at the Point Meadows shopping center in South Jacksonville.

Dutch Bros carries coffee, drinks and a limited menu of pastries with no cooking on-site. It offers cold brew, chai, hot coffees, energy drinks, teas, lemonades, smoothies and its signature Dutch sodas.

The food menu includes granola bars and muffin tops.

The name is pronounced “Bros” and not as “brothers.”

Brothers Dane and Travis Boersma founded Dutch Bros in 1992. Dutch Bros Inc. was formed June 4, 2021, to become a public company. It is traded on the New York Stock Exchange.

Nations Restaurant News reported Nov. 8 that as the company opened its 800th store in October, Dutch Bros is “well on its way to its long-term goal of quintupling its current store portfolio to reach 4,000 locations over the next 10-15 years.”

“As we’ve gone into the center of the country and into Texas, it’s been really important to have a base there as we continue to expand East and open in new markets like North Carolina and Florida,” Barone told Nation’s Restaurant News.

Dutch Bros joins several coffee drive-thru kiosk chains opening in the area.
