Catullo’s Italian restaurant at 100 Marketside Ave. in Nocatee announced on Facebook that it is closing that location June 25. The June 16 post said that brothers Carl and Dave Catullo had sold the space to an unnamed restaurant group.

The closing date is tentative, depending on food supply and staff availability.

The brothers plan to continue operating the original location at 1650-2 San Pablo Road S.

The owners could not be reached for comment.

In the Facebook message, the brothers thanked their staff, “who we consider family,” and the patrons they had met along the way. “We’d hoped to be here serving you for many years to come, but it just wasn’t in the cards,” they wrote.

They encouraged customers to visit before the final day and said they looked forward to serving them at the San Pablo location.

Lines are common outside the San Pablo location on weekend evenings. It does not take reservations.

The business began as a food truck in 2016. Both brothers had 15 years of experience working at Beaches restaurants that included Flying Iguana, Lynch’s Irish Pub and Roy’s. In late 2021, they announced their intention to open the Nocatee location.

Rick Ray, chairman and CEO of the PARC Group, the master developer of Nocatee, said in a 2021 release, “Catullo’s may be the most authentic Italian experience in Northeast Florida.”

Permits, issued in 2022, listed River City Construction Group LLC of Jacksonville Beach as the contractor of the 1,895-square-foot Nocatee location. Construction costs were listed at $450,000.
