Jacksonville-based Acosta Group announced an agreement May 22 to acquire two sales and marketing businesses from Dallas-based WIS International.

Acosta is buying companies called Crossmark and Product Connections from WIS.

“Our strong balance sheet enables us to make these strategic investments,” Acosta CEO Brian Wynne said in a news release.

“Our acquisition of Crossmark and Product Connections will strengthen our ability to provide valuable services for our customers in an industry facing persistent macroeconomic challenges, changing consumer behaviors, and further CPG and retailer consolidation,” he said.

Acosta provides services that connect consumer packaged goods, or CPG, companies with retailers to get products to shoppers.

The company founded in 1927 emerged from a prepackaged Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization in January 2020 and has expanded with several acquisitions in the last four years.

In the reorganization, Acosta converted about $3 billion of debt into equity, with a group of fund management companies becoming the owners of the company.

Acosta, Crossmark and Product Connections have complementary offerings and agency teams that will be able to deliver more services to their clients, the company said.

Terms of the deal were not announced.
