Wal-Mart Stores East LP is preparing to invest at least $3 million in remodeling its Supercenter along Normandy Boulevard east of Interstate 295 in West Jacksonville.

The city is reviewing a permit application for an interior and exterior remodel with the addition of an online pickup area.

Plans for the 38-year-old store at 6830 Normandy Blvd. show the 215,799-square-foot store will add 9,949 square feet, for a total of 225,748 square feet.

The store was built in 1988 on 28.7 acres, according to the Duval County Property Appraiser.

The permit application explains that the renovation includes cleaning and painting exterior and interior walls, including in the garden, money, pharmacy and vision centers.

Restrooms will be cleaned and refurbished with new sinks and accessories.

The customer service area will be remodeled with the addition of pickup storage and for walk-in coolers for groceries. A mother’s room will be added.

Outside, the roof will be painted and equipment replaced, and signage will be installed or replaced.

Walmart Inc. is based in Bentonville, Arkansas.
