Giselle Carson, shareholder at Marks Gray and a past president of the Jacksonville Bar Association, took an item off her “bucket list” May 24 when she completed the Cape Town Marathon in Cape Town, South Africa.

It was Carson’s 30th formal 26.2-mile endurance run and completed her goal to collect a finisher’s medal at a marathon on all seven continents.

“It was more than a race, it was a full-circle moment. I’m thankful for the lessons, the adventure and the support from so many who made this milestone possible and I’m excited for what’s ahead,” Carson said via email from Cape Town.

“The marathon exceeded my expectations. The forecast called for clouds (great for running, but not always ideal for taking in the full experience). Then the sky cleared and the course became this beautiful moving tour of Cape Town. The scenery, neighborhoods, people and energy were incredible.”

Carson began her world tour 14 years ago with the Boston Marathon in 2012 (North America), and continued with the London Marathon in 2013 (Europe), in 2015 the Tokyo Marathon (Asia) and the Sydney Marathon in Australia in 2023.

Also in 2023, Carson ran a marathon in Antarctica and in 2025 she completed a marathon in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (South America).
