Celebration Church is preparing for a $2.5 million renovation at Regency Park Shopping Center at 9400 Atlantic Blvd. for its Arlington campus.

Brasfield & Gorrie LLC is the contractor for the project, shown as a 50,191-square-foot build-out.

Pastor Drew King, chief business officer of Celebration Church, said in December the church will open the campus in the summer.

The church intends to lease the former Hobby Lobby space next to Books-A-Million.

King said the church will feature a 1,000-seat sanctuary, a preschool and children’s wing for kindergarten through fifth grade, a large youth space and classrooms.

The city already was reviewing a permit application for a $125,000 remodel of the space. Fisher Koppenhafer Architecture and Interior Design is the architect.

The celebration.org site shows that Celebration Church’s main campus is at 9555 RG Skinner Parkway, in the Baymeadows area. Its other Northeast Florida campuses are in Westside-Orange Park, Julington Creek and Amelia Island.

Regency Park is anchored by Ollie’s Furniture Outlet, American Signature Furniture, Bealls Outlet and, in development, Surplus Warehouse.

Soul Food Bistro also is making plans to relocate to the former Outback Steakhouse space
