Ed Burr, president and CEO of LandMar Group, has been nominated to serve as chairman of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce in 2006. If approved by the Chamber’s 2004 Board of Directors at its October meeting, Burr will begin his duties as chairman-elect in January 2005.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as the chairman-elect for the Jacksonville Chamber in 2005 and chairman in 2006,” Burr said. “The Chamber is an organization that has had a positive impact on the economic development and business climate in northeast Florida for many years. Not only has it had an impact, but has positively affected the lifestyles of all the citizens of northeast Florida. To have the opportunity to lead the Chamber is truly a privilege.”

Burr has served on the Chamber’s Board of Directors and Board of Governors. He currently chairs the Chamber’s Business Recruitment Standing Committee and is also a Chamber Trustee and Cornerstone investor.

“Ed is a very successful businessman who has a keen interest in seeing our community grow. His demonstrated leadership skills within the Jacksonville Chamber, as well as other organizations, make him a natural choice to serve as our 2006 chairman,” said Bob Helms, 2005 Chamber chairman and chairman of the Nominating Committee.

As Chairman-elect in 2005, Burr will lead Chamber events such as the Leadership Trip and the annual planning process. He will be a member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, responsible for setting organizational policy, and the Board of Governors.

“Ed is a big picture person who starts with the end in mind. In his relatively short time on the Board, he has made significant contributions to advancing the Chamber’s agenda. With his knowledge of economic development and his strong leadership skills, he will make an excellent chairman,” said current Chamber Chairman Barry Allred.
