City Notes: Stellar names new  CFO, board member; Black Knight career fair

Stellar, an international design, engineering, construction and mechanical services firm with headquarters in Jacksonville, named Clint Pyle as its new senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Pyle succeeds Scott Witt as CFO. Witt has been promoted to Stellar’s board of directors, where he will serve as chairman of the finance committee.

Pyle is a licensed CPA with almost 20 years of accounting and finance experience. He most recently served as divisional vice president of shared services.

In addition, Stellar promoted three professionals to officer-level positions. They are Jason Duff to division vice president, engineering; Luke Facemyer to division vice president, refrigeration contracting; and Chris Williams to vice president of operations, mechanical services.

Also promoted were Amy Rojas to director of human resources, Mike Davis to operations manager and Sid Sapp to senior superintendent.

First Coast Manufacturers Association award winners

The First Coast Manufacturers Association announced the winners of its 2017 “Excellence Awards” for manufacturers and their employees Sept. 29 at the University of North Florida.

The Education Award was given to Johnson & Johnson VisionCare, which in 1987, introduced the world’s first mass-marketed disposable soft contact lens under the Acuvue brand name.

Manufacturer of the Year was awarded to Carlisle Interconnect Technologies, which manufactures electronic test equipment and accessories such as oscilloscope probes, differential probes and test leads.

The Founders Service Award went to Vac-Con, Inc. Based in Green Cove Springs, Vac-Con is the fastest-growing combination sewer machine manufacturer in the United States.

It pioneered the use of polyethylene water tanks to end water leakage.

In addition to corporate honors, 80 awards were presented to employees representing 23 manufacturing companies.

Regional Leadership Academy graduates its 12th class

The Regional Leadership Academy graduated its 12th class Sept. 25.

The academy’s mission is to build a strong, diverse, regional network of leaders with a shared commitment to collaboration and to connecting communities.

Graduates become members of the Regional Community Institute, a nonprofit that does policy work for the regional council.

The 12 graduates of RLA Class of 2017 are Adrienne Burke, executive director; Riverside Avondale Preservation; Andrea Conover, conservation advocate; North Florida Land Trust; Brenda Ezell, attorney; Ezell Law Firm; Chris Milton, director of community development, Baker County; Paul Waldron, county commissioner, St. Johns County; James Richardson, program administrator, Environmental Protection Board, Jacksonville; Jessica Ligator, director of capital projects, Jacksonville University; Reuben Franklin, mobility program manager, St. Augustine Public Works Department; Robert Perry, attorney, R. M. Perry Law Firm; Scott Skinner, manager of environmental compliance, JaxPort; Shelley Hirsch, operations administrator, Nassau County Economic Development Board; and Tina Gordon, coastal training program coordinator, Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve, Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

Black Knight to hold career fair for vets

Black Knight’s Veterans Career Fair is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Omni Jacksonville Hotel at 245 Water St.

Black Knight is seeking qualified U.S. veterans to fill positions in information technology, data security, client support and more.
