The Jacksonville Transportation Authority announced a public-private partnership July 10 with the Go Tuk’n event and urban transportation company to offer shuttle service in Downtown, Riverside and Avondale.

JTA said in a news release that Go Tuk’n  Inc. will offer pay-to-ride service starting at $2 per trip beginning July 13.

Go Tuk’n was founded in 2018 by CEO Stephanie Dale. She said in the news release that the partnership with JTA is designed to allow Jacksonville residents and visitors to visit urban neighborhood businesses and restaurants outside the Downtown core without worrying about parking.

“We are passionate about supporting the Urban Core areas of Jacksonville and believe the Tuk’n Ride program will be one way to help our community grow and thrive,” Dale said.

“Supporting area restaurants and other businesses is a starting point and we expect to expand services to other neighborhoods in the near future.”

Riders can reserve and pay for the services through the Tuk’n Ride mobile app, according to JTA. The company will use JTA-designated bus stops and offer transportation for larger groups and wheelchair users with a 14-passenger Tuk’n Bus.

The program will provide stop-to-stop service using what JTA calls Go Tuk’n “authentic European, eco friendly Tuk Tuks,” a covered, three-wheeled shuttle car.

“Introducing micro transit options like Tuk’n Ride to LaVilla, Brooklyn, Riverside and Downtown Jacksonville will be critical as these neighborhoods continue to flourish,” said JTA Chief CEO Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. “Not only does this partnership benefit our customers, it furthers our commitment to working with small, minority and women-owned businesses.”

JTA officials said Tuk’n Ride service begins July 13 in the Downtown and Riverside areas. Hours are 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday.

There are more than 20 Tuk’n Ride stops

Service in Avondale begins July 17. Hours are 4-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
