Seaside Community Charter School is leaving one Mayport location for another.

The school, at 2630 Florida A1A, plans to relocate its Beaches campus to 2865 Mayport Road, south of Wonderwood Drive.

Seaside School Consortium Inc. bought 7.79 acres from JDB LLC on Jan. 31 for $1.1 million.

Prior to the purchase, JDB LLC obtained a zoning exception on behalf of Charter Schools Development Group LLC to allow a school in the property’s CCG-1, CCG-2, RLD-60 and RMD-MH zoning districts.

The property previously comprised vacant land and single-family home rentals.

“We are planning on moving and occupying it for the new school year,” said school representative Mary Claire Hopkins in an email.

At the new site, the city issued four building permits Feb. 1 for Summit Construction Management Group LLC to construct four buildings totaling 28,907 square feet at a construction cost of $5 million.

The St. Johns River Water Management District approved an Environmental Resource Permit for a stormwater pond to accommodate the development on 4.82 acres of the property. The civil engineer for the school is Matthew Design Group Inc.

Seaside is a K-8 tuition-free public charter school with locations in Mayport and in Mandarin at 8727 San Jose Blvd.

Seaside’s existing Florida A1A school property was rezoned for residential uses.
