The Laurel Award ceremony is making a move ... to downtown Jacksonville. The awards will be presented at the Florida Theatre in downtown Jacksonville on April 2.
“We felt that the diamond anniversary was a special year,” said GarageTek’s Mark Berman, the 2004 chairman. “The Florida Theater is one of the few venues in Jacksonville that represents the tradition and honor that the event represents in the building industry. We’re very excited about having the event there.”
The Laurel Awards are in their 10th year. They were founded in 1993 by a group of realtors and chaired by Victoria Robbins. With over 60 categories, the Laurel Awards honor the excellence of a variety of companies and individuals within the real estate and building industries.
Last year, the Dick Baker Memorial Award Grand Laurel was given to Ron Coppenbarger and Marketing Director of the Year was given to Daniel Blanchard of KB Homes. Judy Hicks won Realtor of the Year.
Linda Mathis of North Florida Builders won Member of the Year for a builder and Jim Delvecchio of HomeSouth Mortgage won Member of the Year for an Associate member. GarageTek won advertising campaign of the year for an Associate member. Walter O’Shea of Hines Development won Developer of the Year.
The event will feature a reception, awards program and post-event party.
For the first time, the event will also feature a viewing gallery for all the winning entries.
Entries will be judged by six independent judges who will travel to Jacksonville from various cities and markets.
The Call for Entries will be mailed on December 22. The deadline for submission is February 2.
