Jacksonville-based The Hutson Companies, developer of OakLeaf Plantation, has presented Barry and Jennifer Morton with a check to jumpstart a relief fund set up in their name at Compass Bank.

The Morton residence in OakLeaf Plantation burned down in a fire which broke out as a result of a lightning strike during recent severe thunderstorms. The $1,000 will be used to aid the Mortons as they begin putting their life back together as a family.

“We extend our deepest sympathy to the Morton family during their time of uncertainty and our thoughts are with Barry, Jennifer and their children,” says Deanna Cope, Director of Marketing for The Hutson Companies and neighbor of the Morton family. She goes on to say, “It is our hope that this donation will assist them as they get back on their feet.”

Jennifer Morton voluntarily began OakLeaf’s “Mommy and Me” program for the stay-at-home mothers in the community and has worked to build participation among the group over the past several months. The “Mommy and Me” group has grown tremendously and has even expanded to include activities for different age segments.

The relief fund for the Morton family has been established at Compass Bank on Blanding Boulevard. For those wishing to contribute, it is in the name of Jennifer and Barry Morton.
