Providence Homes has been recognized by the I. M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless for donating more than $5,000 to its annual fundraising campaign, Transformations.

Providence Homes worked with its employees and subcontractors to raise the money, and Bill Cellar, president of Providence Homes, matched each dollar contributed by his company’s staff. Their contribution is expected to provide almost 17 months of shelter, which includes a bed and three nutritious meals, for a homeless man, woman or child. Cellar serves on the board of directors for the Sulzbacher Center.

“Perhaps no one understands the importance of a having a home more than a homebuilder,” said Chief Operating Officer Sean Junker. “We are so proud to help such valuable community outreach organizations like the Sulzbacher Center.”

Transformations, a celebration of lives that have been touched by the Sulzbacher Center, was held last month and this year’s benefit celebrated the 709 men, women and children who lived at the Center this past year and are now in homes of their own.

“This is the second time that the Providence Homes team and their subcontractors have participated in this fundraising effort,” said Jordan Boss, Director of Development. “The 495 nights of shelter they were able to raise is a significant gift to the Sulzbacher Center, and it will help us meet the growing need for food and shelter.”

The mission of the I.M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless is to provide housing and support services for homeless men, women and children in a setting that encourages responsibility and offers the opportunity for independence and self-sufficiency in a challenging and dignified manner.
