LandMar officials and North Hampton residents joined recently to officially open two new parks in the Fernandina Beach community.
Called Lofton Creek Outpost and Reflection Park, the recreation areas offer North Hampton residents views of the marsh, canoe and kayak storage racks, floating docks, a canoe and kayak launching area, a screened pavilion with bathroom and kitchen and an area for oyster roasting.
The community celebrated the Outpost’s grand opening in February with a special event that showcased the park’s amenities including canoe rides, an oyster roast and an afternoon of park tours. Horse-drawn carriage rides also were part of the daylong event, attended by several hundred people.
“North Hampton offers many opportunities to enjoy an active lifestyle,” said Jim Doyle, LandMar’s vice president of marketing. “Our residents now have two more reasons to celebrate this special community.”
North Hampton boasts more than 100 acres of lakes and woodlands. The community was designed to set aside half of the property as open space, golf course or lakes. The club community is anchored by an 18-hole Signature Arnold Palmer golf course designed by Palmer Course Design Company.
Other outdoor and sporting amenities at the community include an aquatic center with an adult Junior Olympic and children’s wading pools, a park with a recreation area and playground, multipurpose playing fields, basketball and tennis courts and a community clubhouse.
