CornerStone Homes, its trade partners, The Donna Hicken Foundation board members and guests recently gathered at the groundbreaking ceremony for this year’s The Donna Hicken Foundation “Give Hope A Home” house.

“CornerStone Homes is truly proud and honored to be affiliated with The Donna Hicken Foundation to help women and their families in times of need,” said Mark Downing, managing partner of CornerStone Homes. “Together, we are bound and determined to make a positive impact on their lives.”

Plans for the “Give Hope A Home” house detail a two-story, 3,230-square-foot, five bedroom, three-and-a-half bath home in MuraBella. The sale of the home will benefit First Coast women afflicted with breast cancer. The house’s design also includes a stone front elevation.

The Wood Development Company of Jacksonville is the managing member of MuraBella LLC, the developer of MuraBella, a new 740-home master-planned community in northern St. John’s County. Rick and Susan Wood, co-founders of The Wood Development Company, offered the first helping hand by donating Lot 422, where the “Give Hope A Home” house will be built. The waterfront property is currently valued at $75,000.

All involved in the construction of the “Give Hope A Home” house will donate time, effort and materials to keep the actual building costs as low as possible. The trade partners who are participating in the “Give Hope A Home” project include: American Standard, Avery Framing Specialist, Builders First Source, Bocks Concrete, Chandler’s Trim, Inc., Clarson & Associates, Inc., Color Wheel Paints & Coatings, Corian Countertops - Parksite Surfaces, CSR Rinker Materials, DiscoverTec, First Coast Rainguard, Florida Pest Control, GE Appliances, Marco Heating & Air, Inc., Moen, Inc., Mohawk Industries, Inc., Munson & Bryan Electric, Progress Lighting, S&W Materials, Inc., Sheffield & Boatright, SkyeTec, Southern Scapes, Inc., Sunshine State Plumbing, The Cleaning Ladies, The Montello Agency, The Wood Development Company, and Woodsman Kitchens and Floors.

As a show of support, CornerStone Homes employees, trade partners, The Donna Hicken Foundation board members and guests signed and wrote well-wishes on the “Give Hope A Home” board which will be incorporated into the frame work of the house.

Upon completion, the home will be sold with 100 percent of the proceeds going towards The Donna Hicken Foundation. The money raised from selling the home will help lower-income, underinsured, and uninsured breast cancer patients and their families with basic needs such as treatment, medication, child care, groceries, utilities, housing and insurance payments.

“The need to help women on the First Coast is greater than ever, and the ‘Give Hope A Home’ house is going to be a tremendous fund raising and public awareness opportunity,” said Hicken. “Together, CornerStone Homes and The Donna Hicken Foundation will be helping so many First Coast women with breast cancer. I am absolutely blown away by everyone’s generosity and the efforts to support us in finding a solution for a terrible problem.”
