The 2005 Gala on the Green was a hole-in-one.
More than 1,000 Northeast Florida Builders Association members, guests and friends of the association enjoyed a beautiful evening of dancing, dining and winning.
Ken Kuester of Lumber Unlimited won the evening’s grand prize — a Hawaiian golf package valued at more than $10,000. The package provided by Apex Supply includes golf for two at Mekena South Course, Mekena, Maui, Hawaii, a seven-night cruise for two on Norwegian Line’s Pride of America and much more — including $2,000 spending money.
This year’s Gala on the Green may have been geared to golfers, but there was something for everyone at the NEFBA annual charity event Nov. 11 at the Sawgrass Marriott.
NEFBA’s galas are much anticipated and well-known for their lively entertainment, sumptuous food and exciting bidding for grand products and services.
“We are so excited about the gala,” said Linda Hutchins of LandMar, chair of this year’s event. “The venue gives us a great opportunity to capitalize on what is undoubtedly a very popular activity in this area — golf.”
The raffle and the proceeds of the gala benefit local charities — the Monique Burr Foundation, NEFBA Builders Care and the Arnold Tritt Scholarship Fund.
Winners of the raffle to play nine holes of golf with Gary Player were Penelope Geismar of Jacksonville Homebuyer magazine, John Hasty of Canac Kitchens and Kyle Boatwright of Worthington Group. With Player, the three will make up a foursome at the Grand Club Cypress Course in Palm Coast at the course’s reopening next summer. Player designed the course in the early 1990s and has worked on the course’s redesign, as well.
Brad King of Wachovia won Arnold Palmer-autographed bag and clubs.
