The Florida Association of Realtors has honored four legislators.

Sen. Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) was named the 2005 Legislator of the Year in the Florida Senate, Rep. Randy Johnson (R-Celebration) and Rep. Ellyn Bogdanoff (R-Fort Lauderdale) shared the honor in the House and Rep. Don Brown (R-DeFuniak Springs) was given the first-ever President’s Award.

2005 FAR President Frank Kowalski said, “FAR recognizes Senator Posey’s leadership in preserving and adequately funding the state’s affordable housing trust funds during the 2005 legislative session. He is a firm supporter of private property rights and is very aware of the issues that affect Realtors and the business community.”

Posey serves as chairman of the Senate Ethics and Elections Committee. He also is a Florida Realtor.

Kowalski said that Realtors appreciate Posey’s long commitment to the Commercial Real Estate Lien Act, which passed in 2005, and his dedication to safeguarding the affordability and availability of housing.

Brown got the President’s Award for his efforts on behalf of Florida’s property owners and his outstanding legislative achievements.

An insurance agent, Brown serves as chairman of the House State Administration Council.

Johnson serves as chairman of the House Growth Management Committee. He also is president and CEO of the Central Florida Sports Authority. As the Growth Management Committee chairman, Johnson was instrumental in passing a comprehensive growth management bill to help preserve the state’s quality of life for residents now and in the future.

Bogdanoff serves as alternative chairman of the House Joint Administrative Procedures Committee and vice chair of the House State Administration Council and worked to find ways to better manage Florida’s growth and to meet the demands it places on the state’s infrastructure needs.
