Amanda Randolph is the new director of the Northeast Florida Builders Association’s Sales and Marketing Council. She replaced Portland Stuart, who was promoted to the NEFBA membership director.

HOW DID SHE GET THE JOB?

She was working for Hines at The St. John as an administrative assistant when past SMC President Pud English of Hines heard about the job opening. Randolph applied and got the job.

WHAT DOES SHE DO FOR SMC?

She sets up continuing education classes for Realtors and marketing professionals, plans events such as the SAM Tram, Builder/Developer Trade Show, monthly meetings and more. She has also been helping the the Laurel Awards and planning SMC Mixers and a Realtor/builder luncheon.

WHAT MADE HER WANT TO WORK FOR SMC?

“I wanted something more challenging. I like to be around people and it was a great career opportunity.”

EDUCATION

She graduated from the Douglas Anderson School of Arts where she studied singing at the Vocal Department of the school. She has a bachelor’s degree in criminology and psychology with a minor in sociology from Florida Southern in Lakeland.

HAVE YOU EVER DONE EVENT PLANNING?

“At The St. John, I did event planning on a small scale.” Randolph helped plan several Realtor luncheons and mixers to bring different types of clientele in to see the condo planned for downtown Jacksonville.

HOW DOES YOUR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE HELP YOU NOW?

“I’ve done event planning on a smaller scale. It’s mostly about networking and working with other people, so it’s really nothing new, per se. Portland Stuart has been very hands on, so that has been very helpful.”

MOST INTERESTING THING ABOUT YOUR NEW JOB SO FAR?

“I like the people. There are so many different personalities here. The Laurel Awards judging was very entertaining. The judges were an interesting bunch of people.”

WHO DO YOU WORK WITH?

She deals with Realtors, builders, marketing professionals and lenders.

BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED FROM A CO-WORKER?

Randolph said follow up is very important in building relationships. It’s important to let others know they are important to you by sending a card or a phone call. “That lets them know you are still thinking about them and it can come back in a positive way to help you in the future.”

BEST ADVICE FROM PORTLAND STUART?

“The most important is probably to be flexible. Sometimes you will have an entire list of things to do and you won’t get any of them done. Don’t get frazzled. They will get done.”

PET PEEVES?

People who don’t follow through. “When people say they are going to do something, they should do it. I’m a very organized person, so if I say I’m going to do something I make sure I do it and follow through.”
