The Hispanic Bar Association of Northeast Florida gathered Wednesday at Bistro Aix for its annual holiday party.
The 50 guests were asked to bring coats to donate to Catholic Charities for distribution to those in need.
“The holiday party is always a great event that provides an opportunity for members to network with the legal community,” said Hispanic Bar Association President Ricky Bedoya.
The association was founded in September 2004 to foster fellowship among Hispanic judges, lawyers and law students and those interested in or doing business with Latin America or Hispanic businesses in the region.
Other goals include providing networking opportunities and a referral source for clients; to educate the Hispanic community about relevant legal issues; to educate the general legal and business communities about issues affecting Latin America and Hispanics in the United States; to encourage Hispanics to enter the legal profession; to participate in community outreach programs through established programs such as Law Week and provide scholarship opportunities; and to promote the recognition of Hispanics in leadership positions in federal, state and local government and the judiciary.
