NAIOP of Northeast Florida, a regional commercial real estate and trade association, recapped the year at the group’s recent holiday party at Epping Forest Yacht Club.
Karl Hanson, the 2011 president, reviewed its work:
• Launching a Downtown Revitalization Platform, which included strategies and tactics to improve the urban core’s landscape, infrastructure and economy. The platform can be viewed at www.naiopnefl.com.
• Hosting speakers to educate NAIOP and the public about issues affecting the city. Speakers included former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Florida Secretary of Commerce Gray Swoope and Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Herschel Vinyard.
• Supporting the local nonprofit Daniel through a “Back to School Backpack and School Supply Drive” and as a major sponsor in the “2011 Jacksonville Backyard BBQ Championship.”
• Raising more than $2,250 for the Wounded Warrior Project throughout the year.
“It was our goal in 2011 to reach out to our members, the community and local nonprofits in an effort to educate and help Northeast Florida in the best way our organization can,” said Hanson.
“We look forward to continuing our outreach in 2012 and hope that our members, sponsors and the community will offer their support.”
Gordon Steadman is the 2012 NAIOP of Northeast Florida chapter president.
The group’s Jan. 13 luncheon will feature Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll as the guest speaker.
