Hank Haynes (left), the 1993 chairman of The Players Championship, welcomed Robert Davis, the 2012 first vice chairman of the tournament, to the Meninak Club of Jacksonville on Monday. Davis talked about the May tournament and the history of the event, which his father, the late Don Davis, chaired in 1988. Don Davis, a vice president of Gate Petroleum Co., also served as president of the Jacksonville City Council and in the Florida House of Representatives. He died in 2008 at the age of 76. Robert Davis, executive vice president of sales and account management for Lender Processing Services, becomes The Players Championship chair for the 2013 tournament. Haynes said the Davises are the third father and son to serve as Players chairmen in the tournament’s history. The tournament is May 10-13 at TPC Sawgrass. Events and practice rounds start May 7.
