Downtown Vision Inc. has launched an online survey to receive feedback about First Wednesday Art Walk, with the goal to expand the Downtown event, according to a news release.

The survey will collect data about the monthly event's best and most desired features. DVI has formed an Art Walk committee consisting of a dozen Downtown supports and activists who will meet over the next several months to review the survey results and make recommendations for expanding the monthly program and bring in new vendors and activities.

"We began Art Walk nine years ago and it continues to capture the creative spirit of the community and bring thousands of people Downtown each month," said DVI Executive Director Terry Lorince, in the release.

"But to keep it fresh, we feel it's time it inject a bit more energy and enthusiasm into the event to offer our regular attendees something new while bringing in an entirely new audience," she said.

According to the release, DVI's goal is to collect 1,000 surveys by the end of December. Topics include the importance and satisfaction of parking, street performers, music, vendors, retail, restaurants and activities for children.

Those who respond can share their favorite Art Walk experience and make recommendations for activities.

The survey can be accessed online at DVI's blog by visiting downtownjacksonville.org/blog.

Beginning Jan. 2 and for the first time in the almost 10-year history of the monthly event, artists and vendors will be charged a fee to participate.

Artists will be charged $15 for a single Art Walk or $120 for 12 Art Walks and food vendors will be charged $50 per event.

Katherine Hardwick, DVI marketing director, told DVI board members last month the fees are to partially defray the event's cost. The cost to DVI for each Art Walk is about $4,000, which includes City permits, fees for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department personnel, marketing and signage, she told DVI board members.
