Downtown Vision Inc. has invited the community to start the year Wednesday at the January Art Walk while thinking of making a “Fresh StART.”

DVI will collect written wishes and New Year’s resolutions at its table in Hemming Plaza. The missives will be combined for a collage to be exhibited at a future Art Walk.

Southlight gallery in the Dyal-Upchurch Building at East Bay and Main streets will exhibit the work of artist Jim Draper, who will present a gallery talk at 7 p.m.

At the Main Library along Laura Street, artist Jalyn J. will display work in the Teen Department and in the Hicks Auditorium near the Main Street entrance to the library, the first Promenade classical concert of 2013 will begin at 7 p.m.

CoWork Jax along Forsyth Street on the second floor above Perdue will host “The Icarus Session,” part of a worldwide event that challenges artists to share their talent.

Also along Forsyth Street, Midtown Deli & Café will present abstract work from the Color Code Collection by Dallas.

DVI has solicited input from the community and Marketing Director Katherine Hardwick said enough Art Walk surveys have been submitted online to achieve a “critical mass.” She said a committee is being formed to review the responses and the group will recommend possible changes to the 9-year-old Downtown event.

“We plan to roll it out in March. Art Walk has to evolve,” said Hardwick.

Art Walk is scheduled from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, rain or shine. For details, visit downtownjacksonville.org.
