The Young Lawyers Section of The Jacksonville Bar Association hosted a Chili Cook-Off fundraiser for The Missing Link of Jacksonville Inc. on Feb. 4 at Florida Coastal School of Law.

The nonprofit provides free legal clinic assistance to survivors of domestic violence in violent marriages.

Tickets were $10 a person and included food, drink, children’s activities and a silent auction.

Patrons who tasted chili from the 11 participating teams were able to vote on their favorites for categories of “Best Overall,” “Meatiest Chili,” “Spiciest Chili” and “Best Non-Traditional Chili.”

Soloman Lodge No. 20, which featured attorney Jim Krause, was the day’s big winner, taking home three of the four categories.

Attorney Eric Roberson of the Law Offices of Jason K.S. Porter helped organize the event, the second annual chili fundraiser, and said this year’s turnout and participation exceeded the inaugural event.
