Executive Director, BASCA Inc.
Mission
To improve the quality of life for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Northeast Florida.
Serving Jacksonville
BASCA was started in 1994 by parents in the Jacksonville area who were concerned about a quality life in their community for their children with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Their concerns included education, social interaction, potential independence and long-term care as their children became adults. These parents realized that they could help themselves and ultimately others by being a unified voice and pulling together to search out or create these opportunities. BASCA Inc. was incorporated on May 25 1995, as a 501(c)3 organization. BASCA was formed as Baptist Association for Special Children and Adults Inc. It changed its name to BASCA Inc. in 2004 to better reflect its interdenominational services. BASCA has grown into a multifaceted organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Northeast Florida.
