Goals for The Jacksonville Bar Association:

I would like to see an initiative launched to get more and more non-lawyers involved in YLS and JBA activities. I feel like the majority of the lay person community is bewildered by what we do and how we do it (as lawyers). I would also like to help volunteer my time and further promote the events and programs that the YLS supports.

Goals for The Jacksonville Bar Association:

My goal for The Jacksonville Bar Association is to make it more relevant to transactional attorneys. As the Chair of the Corporate and Business Law Section, I have been responsible for resurrecting a section that has been inactive for quite some time. Although I cannot speak for other transactional attorneys, my impression is that most transactional attorneys believe The JBA only offers activities for trial attorneys. I want to change this by providing more opportunities for transactional attorneys.

Our first initiative with the Corporate and Business Law Section is developing and hosting the inaugural Marshall M. Criser Jr. Transactional Law CLE on June 1. This provided an excellent opportunity to showcase local transactional attorneys, a high quality CLE that does not require traveling outside of Jacksonville, and a great networking opportunity.

Our goal is to ensure this is an annual event for transactional attorneys, much like the Raymond Ehrlich Trial Advocacy Seminar is a great annual resource for trial attorneys. I also would like to identify pro bono opportunities for transactional attorneys. I believe several of us would like to give back, but unfortunately the existing opportunities usually do not match our skill sets.

I also would like to create networking events for transactional and trial attorneys so we may gain a greater understanding of our counterparts and also create business development opportunities. I would like to get more young lawyers involved in the Corporate and Business Law Section. In my experience as a young lawyer, it has been very beneficial to have relationships with more senior attorneys.

Goals for The Jacksonville Bar Association:

If elected to the board, I will make it a top priority to encourage new attorneys, those that have been practicing less than two years, to get actively involved in the organization.

• Increase collaboration with other professional organizations. If elected to the board, I will encourage YLS to host events with other young professional groups. Joint events can increase YLS’s presence in the community and offer more networking opportunities for our members.
