• Entrepreneur and philanthropist Rick Sontag, former president of Unison Industries, will be the guest speaker at the JAX Chamber CEO Nexus Forum from 7:30-9 a.m. June 28 at the JAX Chamber Hadlow Room. Sontag manages The Spring Bay Companies investment group and is president of The Sontag Foundation. Sontag, with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physics, also has an MBA from Harvard Business School. • The Downtown Development Review Board scheduled a workshop for 9:30 a.m. Thursday to talk about the proposed Parador Partners LLC parking garage. The workshop is planned at 117 W. Duval St. on the second floor in conference room C.
• The Duval County Public Schools announced summer hours. Schools and offices will be closed each Friday through Aug 2. Hours of operation will be 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday except July 2-6, when offices will be open 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Offices will be closed July 4.
• State Sen. John Thrasher, a Republican who represents the 8th District, is scheduled as the keynote speaker today at the JAX Chamber South Council meeting. • The City approved eight signs for the Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership under development at 9600 Atlantic Blvd. in the Regency area. The site is a former Toys “R” Us store. Taylor Sign & Design Inc. is putting up the ground sign and seven wall signs at a job cost totaling $7,000.
• The City also OK’d 11 wall signs for the Jacksonville Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership in Baymeadows at 11101 Nurseryfields Drive. Taylor Sign & Design Inc. is handling the $7,445 project.
