The active schedule for The Jacksonville Bar Association continues as board members prepare for the Annual Meeting and Golf Tournament Thursday, May 17, at Deerwood Country Club.

The popular golf tournament is always a sellout with more than 100 participants each year. The event starts at 1 p.m. and includes an opportunity to win a new Volvo donated by O’Steen Volvo and the Pajcic & Pajcic law firm in the occasion of a hole-in-one on the par 3 hole, No. 8. In addition, there will be numerous other on-course prizes and gifts. As always, Legal Art Works will stage its popular watering hole and canteen back on the 11th green.

After the round, players, attorneys and judges will gather on the club’s back deck to socialize and listen to an acoustic guitarist. Once Happy Hour concludes, a barbecue dinner will be served followed by a host of speakers including Judge Mallory Cooper with an update on the courthouse. At the end of the evening, results from voting for the new board members will be announced by The JBA President Mike Freed.

Last years’ gross and net winners were the teams of The JBA Board of Governors member Troy Smith, Steve Kelly, Scott Thomas and Rene Fix and The JBA President-elect Ray Driver, James Moore, Matt McAfee and Chris Hodge, respectively.

Slots for a few foursomes are still available at $115 per golfer. Applications are available at www.jaxbar.org or by calling The JBA Office at 399-4486.

Regardless of whether you participate in the golf tournament, The Bar encourages everyone to come out at 5:30 p.m. for the opportunity to socialize, eat dinner and hear the results of the voting.
