• Attorney Elliot Zisser, managing partner with Zisser, Robison, Brown, Nowlis, Maciejewski & Cabrey, has been named Best Lawyers’ 2013 Jacksonville Family Law “Lawyer of the Year.” One lawyer in each practice area in each community is honored. Zisser was selected by his peers to be included in The Best Lawyers in America, 19th Edition for his work. He is Florida Bar certified in marital and family law.

• The Jacksonville office of Stoneburner Berry Glocker Purcell & Greenhut is merging with the Birmingham, Ala., firm of Balch & Bingham. The move marks Balch & Bingham’s expansion into Florida and the growth of its business and financial services practices. Stoneburner has six attorneys and practices in banking, transactional and wealth management fields. The merger has been approved by partnerships of both firms and will be effective Oct. 16. “All of our clients will benefit from the range of expertise strengthened by the joining of the firms,” said Alan Rogers, Balch & Bingham managing partner. The merged firm will be named Balch & Bingham and remain headquartered in Birmingham. The Jacksonville office will be its first in Florida, in addition to its offices in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Washington, D.C.

• Daniel Pasky has the joined the Jacksonville office of McGlinchey Stafford, one of three additions to the firm throughout the state. As an associate, Pasky will represent clients in consumer financial services litigation involving real estate, foreclosures, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights. With the addition, the national law firm has 13 practicing attorneys in Florida, eight in the Jacksonville office that opened in 2010, and five in the Fort Lauderdale office.

• The American Inns of Court recognized three area Inns of Court through its Achieving Excellence program. It is a tiered achievement-based program that recognizes an Inn’s progress toward mastering five core competencies of Inn management: administration, communications, programs, mentoring and outreach activities. Both the Chester Bedell American Inn of Court and the Florida Family Law American Inn of Court earned platinum honors, the highest level of achievement. The E. Robert Williams American Inn of Court was the only organization to earn gold honors, the second highest level.
