• Publix Super Markets Inc. wants to remodel its Roosevelt Square location to include a Publix liquor store. The Lakeland-based company has requested a zoning exception to put a Publix package liquor store within its 4495 Roosevelt Blvd. store. The Publix website, www.publix.com, shows that the chain has four liquor stores among its more than two dozen Publix stores in Jacksonville – at Kernan Square in Southside, Dames Pointe Plaza in Arlington, Seminole Shoppes in Neptune Beach and University Square in Lakewood.
• A building permit is pending for Dickey’s Barbecue Pit at 9825 San Jose Blvd., No 28, in the Mandarin Outback Plaza. Plans show a 55-seat restaurant in restaurant space that will be remodeled.
• Panera Bread plans to remodel its bakery-cafes in the Bartram Park and Regency areas. Plans show a “limited scope remodel” of Panera Bread locations at 13820 Old St. Augustine Road and 9301 Atlantic Blvd. Each is a $25,000 project.
• Add two more KFC locations to the list for remodeling. In addition to four already reported, plans were filed to remodel a Taco Bell-KFC at 4495 Roosevelt Blvd. in West Jacksonville and a KFC at 8761 Baymeadows Road in the Baymeadows area of Southside. We recently reported that the “KFC Vision 3.0 Modern Legacy” remodel program is in line for its stores at 4201 Oldfield Crossing Drive in Mandarin, 8003 Merrill Road in Arlington, 1146 Dunn Ave. in North Jacksonville and 1007 Lane Ave. S. on the Westside. Each is a $100,000 project.
• A building permit is pending for 7-Eleven at 11900 Lem Turner Road and carries a construction cost of $1.5 million.
• The City approved tenant build-out for The Flame Broiler at 7159 Philips Highway, No. 104, at a cost of $95,000. Dakenna Development Inc. is the contractor. It’s the chain’s second Jacksonville location. The first is in Tapestry Park. The restaurant’s menu is described as a healthy choice of food made to order, with no trans-fat, dairy, frying or skin on meat.
