Mayo Clinic Florida CEO Dr. William Rupp has been nominated by the JAX Chamber to lead its efforts as chair in 2014.

Pending approval by the chamber’s board of directors, Rupp will begin duties as chair-elect in January and will succeed 2013 Chair Greg Smith, of Bank of America.

“I look forward to working with 2013 Chair Greg Smith and providing leadership to the board of directors as we build upon the past accomplishments of the Chamber and work toward fulfilling our key initiatives,” Rupp said in a news release.

Rupp has served as Mayo Clinic Florida CEO since 2008 following 25 years in the Mayo Health system in Minnesota.

He has also served as the JAXUSA Partnership business development chair. The economic development group recruited more than 4,000 new jobs to the region, according to the release.

He joined the chamber’s board in 2010.

As chair-elect, Rupp will lead the chamber’s annual planning process and the annual leadership trip in 2013.
