Puccini's, Buffalo Wild Wings planning to open in St. Johns County

• Puccini's Pizzeria Vilano Beach LLC wants to build on an outparcel at the Vilano Beach Town Center, moving from a location within the strip mall.

The St. Johns River Water Management District is reviewing plans for the project along Poplar Avenue. Plans show a 5,000-square-foot building with an outdoor patio. The consulting engineer is Caulfield & Wheeler Inc.

In addition to the Vilano Beach location in St. Augustine, Puccini's operates in Boca Raton, Palm Beach Gardens and Delray Beach.

• Buffalo Wild Wings wants to open a restaurant in St. Augustine at 318 Florida 312 in the Hobby Lobby-anchored center.

The Water Management District is reviewing the plans for the 5,564-square-foot restaurant, which is designed with 229 interior seats and 24 patio seats.

The location now is the site for TGI Friday's, but no one answered the phone there Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Buffalo Wild Wings anticipates a $1.07 million renovation for its planned 7,000-square-foot restaurant at The Avenues mall in Southside Jacksonville.

The Daily Record reported in May that The Avenues location would be the third company-owned location in the area.

The buffalowildwings.com site shows the existing two Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants in Northeast Florida are at River City Marketplace and along Wells Road in Orange Park.

Regional Marketing Manager Randy Groover, based in Atlanta, said two stores were closed previously in Orange Park and along Baymeadows Road.

"Florida is becoming a hotbed for company-owned restaurants," he said.

M Shack at Town Center approved

The Medure brothers' M Shack restaurant was approved for renovations at St. Johns Town Center. The Weaver Construction Group Inc. will handle the $500,000 remodeling of 2,700 square feet of space at 10281 Midtown Parkway, No. 101. It's the former Ritz Camera location near the P.F. Chang's China Bistro.

Design/Cooperative LLC is the architect for the project.

As reported, M Shack is the burger-fries-shake concept from sibling chefs David and Matthew Medure. The restaurant is shown as M Shack on its mshack.com website.

The first M Shack opened in November 2011 at Beaches Town Center in Atlantic Beach.

The Medure brothers also own and operate Matthew's in San Marco and Restaurant Medure in Ponte Vedra Beach.

M Shack says on its mshackburgers.com site that its burgers are made with all natural beef, with no hormones or antibiotics.

"We grind our own blend of Black Angus Beef daily to provide you with the highest quality of freshness and flavor," it says.

The menu also offers hot dogs, sandwiches, fries and shakes.

M Shack announced plans last year to bring the concept to San Marco to Medure's Take Away Gourmet space, across Hendricks Avenue from Matthew's Restaurant. The building is used for Medure's catering operations.

However, ongoing road construction and the reconfiguration of nearby Balis Park in San Marco Square led M Shack to focus for now on St. Johns Town Center.

Another Broken Egg Café plans Jacksonville presence

Another Broken Egg Café President, CEO and founder Ron Green of Another Broken Egg Cafe announced a 10-store development agreement with Jake Alleman, franchisee and managing partner of Cojak Investments LLC.

The first openings will be two in Jacksonville next spring and four in Orlando. No addresses were announced.

The breakfast-lunch restaurants are open 7 a.m.-2 p.m. and the concept is similar to the First Watch chain.

Alleman and his business partners, Cody Gielen and John Dan Gielen, also are evaluating possible locations in Tallahassee, Daytona Beach and Gainesville, and are confirmed to open in Fairhope, Ala.

Cojack Investments owns and operates existing Another Broken Egg Cafes in Panama City Beach, Lafayette, La., and Tuscaloosa, Ala.

"We see the growth of the brand and realized that the Southeast was sold out except for parts of Florida. We did not want to travel far from our existing restaurants in order to grow our company efficiently," Allemen said in the news release.

"Another Broken Egg Café is well positioned in the breakfast segment and the unit economics are far better than most other casual restaurants that we have looked at," he said.

Mellow Mushroom construction OK'd

The City approved the construction for Mellow Mushroom at 3601 St. Johns Ave. Tenant Contractors Inc. is the contractor for the $1.4 million restaurant, which is under development by owner M.M. Avondale LLC.

The service station on the site was demolished last week in preparation for construction and renovations.

The City has been reviewing plans for the project to include site work, a "ground-up" building and interior build-out.
