Hurricane Grill & Wings expanding

Hurricane Grill & Wings plans to expand its San Marco restaurant at 1615 Hendricks Ave. into vacant adjacent space, adding 1,500 square feet of space and 52 seats. Plans filed with the City show the expanded restaurant will offer 132 seats in 4,292 square feet of space. It's a $100,000 construction project.

BJ's buys land for River City restaurant

BJ's Restaurants Inc. paid $2.6 million for land at River City Marketplace in North Jacksonville, where it plans to build a $1.25 million BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse at 15022 Max Leggett Parkway.

Plans show the restaurant will consist of 8,376 square feet of enclosed space and 1,446 square feet of unenclosed space for patio seating. Fortney & Weygandt Inc. of Ohio is shown as the contractor.

BJ's is based in Huntington Beach, Calif., and bought the property from Ramco Duval TRS LLC of Farmington Hills, Mich. Ramco Gershenson Inc. is the developer of River City Marketplace.

Tijuana Flats permit sought for River City

Construction plans are under review for a Tijuana Flats at 651 Nautica Drive in River City Marketplace. TWT Restaurant Design, Construction and Development Co. of Tampa is shown as the contractor for the 2,400-square-foot build-out at a project cost of $170,000.

Tijuana Flats will take Suite 2 in the building. The other tenant is Aspen Dental.

Mimi's Café chain sold

Bob Evans Farms Inc. said it has agreed to sell its 145-location Mimi's Cafe restaurant chain, including the one in Jacksonville at St. Johns Town Center, to LeDuff America Inc. for $50 million.

Mimi's Cafe is described as a French-inspired casual dining restaurant that operates in 24 states, primarily in the West and Southwest. LeDuff America owns and operates cafe-bakeries, coffeehouses and related manufacturing in North America.

LeDuff's restaurants include Bruegger's Bagels, La Madeleine Country French Cafe, Brioche Doree, Timothy's Coffee and Michel's Baguette. LeDuff America is a U.S.-based subsidiary of Groupe LeDuff SA, a global bakery and restaurant company based in Rennes, France.

The $50 million purchase price consists of $20 million in cash and a note for $30 million. The deal is expected to be completed within 45 days.

7-Eleven in the Westside

The City is reviewing plans for a 7-Eleven at 660 Cahoon Road. The application shows the 3,000-square-foot convenience-store project carries a construction cost of $995,000.

Bella Vita sign in Baymeadows

The City approved a sign for Bella Vita Italian Restaurant at 3825 Baymeadows Road. The contractor for the $1,500 sign is CNS Signs Inc.

Fresh Grill in Argyle

The City OK'd tenant build-out for Kool Treats & Snacks Inc.'s Fresh Grill at 6621 Argyle Forest Blvd. in unit 1. The renovation cost is shown at $30,000.
