With a new general manager and head coach in place, Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan presented the team's branding campaign Tuesday with a new logo, slogan and vision for the future.
"That's one cool looking cat," said Khan when the logo was revealed at EverBank Field.
Jaguars President Mark Lamping explained that developing the logo was a comprehensive process with the NFL, with fans also driving its creation.
"They (fans) told us they wanted a more authentic, lifelike, ferocious design," said Lamping.
"Stand United" is the team's theme and slogan for 2013.
"'Stand United' is about the community and the team coming together and it represents a theme and a way of life that anyone who loves the Jaguars and Jacksonville can personally understand and appreciate," said Khan.
The Jaguars also are asking fans to stand united in support of the team as it looks to improve its league ranking in total local revenue.
"Because we have had such solid fan support over the years we've been able to operate sufficiently, but maybe less than optimally given our average season ticket price," said Lamping.
The Jaguars have not ranked higher than 23rd in the league since 2002 in total local revenue. It ranked 29th in 2011.
"We need to fix this. If we do not, we threaten the financial stability of the franchise in Jacksonville," said Lamping.
The Jaguars will receive a boost in revenue as the team begins the first of four annual games it will play in London.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Friday announced that all tickets made available to the public for the Jaguars game in London Oct. 27 against the San Francisco 49ers are sold out, but Lamping assured access to the game is still available.
"A variety of ticket and travel packages are still available to Jaguars fans through the Jaguars ticket office," said Lamping.
The organization will benefit from the larger capacity in 90,000-seat Wembley Stadium. In addition, ticket prices are 44 percent higher than in Jacksonville.
The Jaguars will improve the fan experience at home with 1,700 additional seats — named the "Diehards Den" — available for $35 in 2013. In addition, new seating on the field and upper "loge" boxes are being developed and the team is exploring options to double the size and upgrade the technical capabilities of its stadium scoreboards.
